We all have bad habits that got us into the whole "wanna lose weight" point in our lives. I, for example, while on bedrest with the twins picked up a habit of eating while reading, eating while watching movies, eating while on the computer and pretty much eating any time my hands were not busy. (Bedrest is really, really boring). Unfortunately those habits have stayed with me. Some of you have already shed some of your bad habits but I am sure you can find another one. So this weeks challenge is to replace a bad habit with a good one. One of the first steps to that is accountability. Confess your bad habit to someone or hear on this blog as a comment, and then state what you are going to replace that bad habit with. I have a few hobbies I would like to replace my bad habbits with. Maybe I should scrapbook while watching a movie, or maybe when I feel a craving to eat while reading or on the computer, I should drink water or chew gum instead.
Scoring: You get one point for posting your bad habit and the good habit you will replace it with or you can tell someone you trust to hold you accountable. You also get one point for every full day you actually replace that terrible habit with a good one. I chose this challenge because I need to kick a few more habits that I have. I hope you all are successful and Happy New Year!!!!

WOW! I have so many bad habits to choose from. What a great challenge Amy. I'm guilty of eating the food my kids don't finish. I've always hated wasting food, so I'll usually finish there food. (not soggy cereal) Anyways, my goal is to save that food for them to eat at another time and if it's not worth saving throw it out. There's that saying a moment on the lips a life time on the hips. And I'm tired of it being on my hips.
ReplyDeleteMine is after dinner snacking while watching tv (especially football/basketball games). I did okay until holiday season, and now my willpower is crumbling. Hopefully, now that college bowl season is ending, I will overcome the temptation. Right now I will try to drink water instead of snack.
ReplyDeleteHow about picking while preparing food. I like to pop in a handfull of cereal after I pour it for the kids. Also, I rip off a tiny bit of the white bread while making a pb&jelly sandwich for the kiddos. OR then there is snitching something, ANYTHING while I am talking on the phone. It honestly takes a lot of concentration and control not to do it because it has become a major bad habit.
ReplyDeleteAlright. I did this! After a 7 week mental battle with food (and the holidays behind me) I have been controlling my diet again! I just eat too dang much. I have been snacking less, drinking more, staying away from sugar and flour, eating a salad at dinner.
ReplyDeleteSo, portion control police is on duty...
Okay, I have two bad habits that I have worked on this week. The first bad habit is that I think I am eating healthy and I'm not really keeping track of what I'm eating. Then I end up eating way more than I thought I did throughout the day. I decided that I would track EVERYTHING I ate during the week. I did great this week and track everything I ate including how much of everything. I was able to keep my calories around 1500 and feel full and satisfied.
ReplyDeleteThe other bad habit that I worked on this week is getting dressed into my workout gear and then getting distracted and never working out. I overcame that a lot this week. I exercised six days this last week and even did a Tae Bo tape this morning. Wow, I think I will do that one again.
